Chuck Osak who was the owner of ShowtownUSA, a restaurant and lounge here in Gibsonton Florida, let me build his website last year. Everyone kept saying to me when I would leave the restaurant to go to the office to see Chuck, "did you meet Petey?" Well I didn't even know who Petey was. So I finally got the nerve up to ask. And they said he was the last living munchkin from The Wizard of Oz. Oh my! Of course I am and was like a lot of other little girls when growing up, and just loved and adored The Wizard of Oz. I wouldn't tell a lot of people, but even today I would sit and watch it when it comes on TV. And now to think I may have a chance in meeting one of the three munchkins who sang Lollipop Guild and better yet it's even more fascinating that one is still living. It all just blew me away. Ok, so maybe not that much, but I did want to meet him. So after hearing that, my trips to visit Chuck now included me carrying my camera. (smile) I was going to catch that little booger yet and have my picture taken with him. And I did as you can see here. Now whether or not he really is one of the munchkins is going to take a little more research. But I can say that I found out he has been in movies and traveled for almost all his life with Ward Hall, the King of the Sideshow. Petey through out his career was well known as Poobah. And by the way, Poobah loves the ladies as I have been told by many and so he had no objection in getting his picture taken with me.
